Keep every side free to read

Shadowfetch has no paywall, no subscription tier, and no plans for either. If the work is useful to you and you are in a position to chip in, that is what this page is for. If not, keep reading for free — that is the point of the whole project.

Why we ask

Balanced coverage is more expensive than one-sided coverage. For every major story, someone here reads across the spectrum, verifies which facts survive all three framings, and pairs the headlines you see on the front page. Advertising covers part of that cost. Reader contributions cover the rest — and they are the reason we never have to put the second and third perspectives behind a paywall.

Contributions are one-time, whatever a coffee costs where you live, and require no account. There is no members-only tier waiting on the other side: supporters read exactly the same site as everyone else. We think that is a feature.

Ways to help that cost nothing

Money is only one way to keep this work going, and honestly not the most important one. Sharing a story with someone who reads the news differently than you do is the site working as intended. Following our reporting on X, Threads, or Instagram helps more people find it. And telling us when we get something wrong — at support@shadowfetch.com — makes the journalism better for everyone who reads it after you.

The honest fine print

Is my contribution tax-deductible?
No. Shadowfetch is an independent publication, not a registered nonprofit, so contributions are gifts rather than charitable donations.
Do supporters get anything extra?
Our thanks, and the same site as everyone else. Keeping one version of the news for all readers is core to what we do — see who we are and how we work.
Does contributing influence coverage?
No. Contributions are anonymous to the newsroom, and neither readers nor advertisers can buy a lane, a headline, or a correction.
