Balanced coverage is more expensive than one-sided coverage. For every major story, someone here reads across the spectrum, verifies which facts survive all three framings, and pairs the headlines you see on the front page. Advertising covers part of that cost. Reader contributions cover the rest — and they are the reason we never have to put the second and third perspectives behind a paywall.

Contributions are one-time, whatever a coffee costs where you live, and require no account. There is no members-only tier waiting on the other side: supporters read exactly the same site as everyone else. We think that is a feature.

Money is only one way to keep this work going, and honestly not the most important one. Sharing a story with someone who reads the news differently than you do is the site working as intended.
