About Doptrace: Faceting Bench

Doptrace is a faceting bench notebook and calculator for gem cutters. Log every stone from rough to finished, and keep the angle, index positions and lap of every tier next to the maths you need at the machine.

STONE LOG
- Unlimited stones: material, colour, design and source, index gear, outline and stage (planned, preform, pavilion, transfer, crown, finished)
- A cutting sequence for each stone: side, angle, index positions, lap/polish and meetpoint note for every tier, with Cut and Polished ticks and a progress bar
- Pavilion tiers are checked against the stone's critical angle and flagged when they would window
- Rough and finished weight, yield, loss, cost basis, cost per finished carat and bench hours
- Up to six photos per stone, checkpoints with due dates, and a bench journal for laps, polish trials, machine and transfer notes

FACETING CALCULATORS
- Critical angle from refractive index, the two-bounce pavilion window and a starting pavilion main angle
- Tangent-ratio angle transposition: re-cut a design in another material or at another main angle while keeping its meetpoints
- Index wheel: symmetric and mirror-image positions for 64, 72, 77, 80, 96 and 120 gears, gear conversion with the cheater offset you need, and cheater in teeth
- Weight from size with International Gem Society shape constants and a girdle adjustment
- Round brilliant proportions: pavilion depth, crown height, total depth % and weight from angles, table and girdle
- Size & yield planner: the largest stone that fits your rough, with expected weight and yield
- Yield & cost, carats to grams, millimetres to inches

MATERIAL LIBRARY
- 41 materials, from quartz, beryl, corundum, spinel, topaz and tourmaline to garnets, collector stones and lab-grown simulants
- RI range, birefringence, optic character, SG, hardness, dispersion, critical angle and cutting notes on cleavage, heat sensitivity and orientation
- Enter your own measured RI and SG on any stone

EXPORT AND BACKUP
- PDF cutting sheet for each stone and a bench report
- CSV spreadsheet of the stone log
- Full backup file with stones, tiers, photos, notes and checkpoints; restore by replacing or merging, with a safety copy saved first
