If you write and then have to cut — an email that runs long, a report that sprawls, a cover letter that doesn't quite sound like you — Proselens is a readability lens for the second draft. Paste or type your text on an iPhone or iPad and it marks the lines worth another look, the way a careful editor would.

A single clarity score from 0 to 100 sits at the top of the editor and moves as you tighten. Below it, the text is highlighted inline the moment you stop typing: very hard and hard sentences, passive voice, adverbs, weasel words, and complex words that have plainer alternatives. Tap any highlight to jump to it, or switch off a check you don't care about and watch the counts update. Behind the score are the standard readability indices — Flesch, Flesch–Kincaid, Gunning Fog, SMOG, ARI, Coleman-Liau — along with word-frequency and sentence-length views and a drafts library that tracks how each save changed your score.

All of the analysis runs on Apple's on-device language tools. There is no networking in the app at all, so your words never leave the device, and it works fully offline. Pay once; there is no subscription and no in-app purchase.

About Proselens: Writing Style Guide

House Style lets you define preferred terms and review every match in context. Apply a replacement deliberately, with the original draft retained in revision history before the edited document saves.

HOW TO USE THE UPGRADE
1. Open House Style from the editor toolbar. Manage rules, add a literal term and an optional preferred replacement, and save the guide.
2. Review the current draft. Inspect each match and its context, then choose individual replacements.
3. Revisit revision history when needed. Export a guide as JSON or import one with confirmation; guide files do not include the draft.

The editor, local prose analysis, document library, word echoes and revision tools remain available. Echo detection no longer depends on optional part-of-speech model availability.

WHAT TO KNOW
Up to 50 literal rules and a 200 KB draft for House Style. More than 499 matches blocks the whole review instead of presenting partial results. Matching can respect word boundaries and case; it does not understand meaning, verify facts or establish a legal style standard. Replacements require an unchanged draft and a successful document save. Existing revision-history limits apply.
