About Specverge: API Contract

Specverge is an API contract compatibility gate you can run entirely on device — compare two versions of a REST contract and see, before you ship, exactly which changes will break your consumers.

It opens on a worked example: a projects API moving from 2.4 to a 2.5 candidate. Specverge diffs the two contracts and classifies every change as Breaking, Review, or Compatible — endpoint removals, field removals, type narrowing (for example string to boolean), a previously optional field becoming required, a new required field, and dropped response codes are all caught, each with concrete remediation advice.

The Release tab turns the findings into a single release score with route-coverage and open-breaking read-outs, an impact chart, and a ship / hold recommendation. It is interactive: as you waive each breaking change — once you have a migration plan for it — the score and recommendation update live. The Changes tab lists every finding with an impact filter, and the Routes tab draws the endpoint topology with per-endpoint field counts.
