The oldest firewood trick is selling a "cord" that is really a face cord — as little as a third of the real thing — or a loosely thrown pile. Cordwise is for anyone who heats with wood and wants to check. Stack the delivery, enter its length, height, and depth, and it tells you how many full cords you actually received, names the size, flags whether the measure is fair or short, and works out your true cost per cord so two sellers can finally be compared honestly.
It also helps you burn the right wood. Forty-one North American species are ranked by heat output, with BTU per cord, green and seasoned weight, coaling, smoke, splitting ease, and seasoning time, and you can see what a cord is worth against oil, propane, gas, electricity, or pellets. It will estimate how long your wood needs to dry and give a "ready by" month, and interpret a moisture-meter reading. There are tools for sizing a stove and planning a season's cords, illustrated guides on measuring, seasoning, and chimney safety, and a log to record each delivery.
Cordwise runs entirely on your device — no account, no sign-up, no network, no tracking, and no in-app purchases. Buy it once and own it. The heat and weight figures are typical seasoned values from public references and vary with region and moisture.
About Cordwise: Firewood Calculator
Put two firewood quotes on the same volume basis, including entered delivery fees, and compare them with your own measured history.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Open Measure and tap Compare quotes.
2. Enter standard cords, wood price and delivery fee for each quote in the same currency.
3. Inspect the price per cord, weighted historical baseline and shared comparison. Quotes are saved on this device.
Pile measurement, inventory, winter planning, burn logs and reference material remain available.
WHAT TO KNOW
A standard cord is 128 cubic feet of stacked wood. Undefined truckloads and face cords are not equivalent units. Species, moisture, stacking, taxes and extra fees affect value; enter applicable charges yourself. This is price arithmetic, not a seller rating or a purchase action.
